The Last Day of July!

Hi everyone!

Good job today.  Everyone worked very hard.  I hope that you enjoyed the reading and learned about the future of clothing.

For those that did not make it to school today, we read the Unit 5 reading exercise.  Click here for a link to the essay.

Please make sure to review this essay over the weekend because you will see a few questions about it on next Monday's test.

We did not get to our impromptu speeches today, but do not worry.  We will do them at the start of class after lunch.   YAY!!!!

Monday, July 30th

Happy Monday, everyone!

Today, we had some new students join our class! YAY!

We also started introducing the vocabulary for our new unit - Unit 5 Fashion.  Here is a link to the vocabulary. 

Please read over the words, and we will finish going over them tomorrow morning.  Also for tomorrow, we will do the reading in unit 5 as well as do our impromptu speeches.  Therefore, you should get ready to talk after our reading tomorrow.

Tuesday, July 24th

Greetings everyone~

We had a small class today, but we all worked very hard.  This is what we did today:

• We went over the "Dream House" essays 
• going over my corrections
• Did reading 4-1 "William Shakespeare" 

For those of you who didn't make it to class, please read 4-1.

Tomorrow, we will have impromptu speeches as well as work on our writing.

Greetings everyone!

I hope that you are having a wonderful day.  It's Ramadan.  I know many of you are working extra hard.  If you need any extra assistance or need help with our daily grammar, please let me know.

Today, we introduced unit 4 and started working on the vocabulary.  We did not finish it in class, so we will continue with the vocabulary tomorrow morning.

There is no homework today.  Please look over the grammar in unit 4 and bring questions to class tomorrow.

The Move

Hi everyone!

I hope that everyone is doing well today.  There was a lot going on today.  Please remember that if you have any questions or need someone to talk to, I am always available. 

As for class today, we had a lesson on writing.  We learned about some of the main mistakes that were seen on last week's writing assignment (punctuation, fragment sentences, and run-on sentences). 

We also assigned this week's writing assignment.  Please write at least one paragraph  about one of these two topics:

• "Describe the worse disaster to hit your home city or country"   

OR

• "Write about a natural disaster you experienced.  What was it and what happened?"

The paragraph is due by Sunday July 22nd by midnight.

Monday, Monday

Greetings!

I hope that everyone did well on there tests.  You all worked very hard on them. 

This week, we will be studying unit three "Our World."  We will learn about past events in the world such as past natural disasters.  The grammar for this week will be covering past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past passive.

Today, we were introduced to unit 3 as well as the vocabulary.  Please review the vocabulary and do not forget to do your homework.

HOMEWORK:

Write 30 original sentences with one vocabulary word per sentence.

Extra Credit:

There are 63 vocabulary words this week.  For every 5 additional sentence, you may earn 1 point (max: 6 points)

July 11th

Greetings everyone!

Today, we started our writing portion of our class.  Every Wednesday, we will practice writing as well as learn new writing techniques.  Here is what we covered today:

• Topic Sentences
• Supporting Sentences
• Concluding Sentences (Structure 1-1)

You also have a writing assignment this week.  Please write one paragraph using that we learned in class about "your dream home."  This paragraph is due on Sunday by 12am (and not a minute later!!!)

Remember, if you try your best and practice everyday, your writing will improve greatly.

Greetings everyone!

Today was a busy day.  Let me recap on what we did.

• Reviewed grammar 2-1
• Did reading 2-1
• Starting our impromptu speech

Everyone did a great job.  We will finish our speeches tomorrow before we start our lesson on writing a paragraph. 

Do not forget to do your homework.  Please make 10 questions using the grammar we learned today and bring them to class.  Late homework will NOT be accepted.
